The term “masculine centrality” or so-called androcentrism is defined as the consideration of things in society and history from the point the view of absolute manhood, and this view is the fundamental theoretical point of view of the judgement on many subjects. It may be practiced consciously or unconsciously. Male centrality exists both in the East and West, but it differs sharply and its types differ from society to society.
If we want to define the meaning of masculine centrality according to Webster’s Dictionary – male centrality means “masculine dominance or affirmation of interests and masculine view.” This term was first used in 1903. Given this definition, it is not surprising that if we look at several societies that are dominant, for example, by female centrality or gynocentrism.
